Why Interstate108?

My life is like an interstate highway, always taking me somewhere. I love to travel by the road.  Even when I'm not going anywhere my mind is secretly planning the next trip. The open road is like a blank canvas waiting for the painting of my next great adventure.

The number 108 became significant to me back in the early 90's when I noticed it pop up at random in various places such as headlines, trivia, or the price I once paid for a used book. In a newspaper headline, "108 People Die In Fiery Bus Crash". Once it got my attention I started to see the number more often. Finally, I did a little research to find out if there was more that I might be missing, and there was.
  • An official Major League Baseball has 108 stitches.
  •  Tibetan Buddhist malas or rosaries usually have 108 beads.
  • There are 108 cards in a deck of "UNO" cards.
  • 108 degrees Fahrenheit is the internal temperature at which the human body's vital organs begin to fail from overheating.
  •  In the TV show "Lost", the main characters had to enter the numbers into a mysterious computer every 108 minutes.
  • In India, 108 is the toll-free emergency telephone number, like 911 is here.
  • There are more than 30 state highways numbered 108 in The United States.
...and there are many more. Look it up.
Anyhow, you get the picture. It's a little silly but my friends and I have fun with it. Hence, "Interstate108", my life road to adventure and photography. Follow me here and come along for the ride.
